We enjoyed a beautiful 2018. We celebrated that the House of Province Gelderland has won the Best Building of the Year Award by the Royal Institute of Dutch Architects and the National Steel Award in category ‘Extraordinary Steel Features’. While the outside world has its eyes on timber hybrid residential tower HAUT, of which construction has started, we are focusing on exceptional new work; we are designing the Diakonessen hospital in Utrecht and Hotel Chicago with a floating swimming pool in Rotterdam. We are also working enthusiastically on public transport hub Zuidasdok in Amsterdam, student housing ‘Op Dreef’ in Utrecht and CrossOver, a mixed-use building in financial district Amsterdam Zuidas.
We are approaching the completion of the ‘intelligent’ Atlas building of the Eindhoven University of Technology and the RCO House in Amsterdam, the new home base for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Both are renovations of buildings full of unique architectural features. The New University Building for the VU Amsterdam and Station Lansingerland-Zoetermeer are also well under construction. A time has come of making new plans. The pressure to design and build is great. We are looking forward to keeping an eye on relevance, precision and integrality of our projects in the new year and designing and creating extraordinary work.
