New platform roof parts at Amsterdam Zuid Station

Date
18 June 2025

Last weekend, 22 roof parts (16.5 x 7 meters, 13,000 kg each) were installed on the platform at Amsterdam Zuid Station. The parts were lifted from the highway to the platform area above tracks 3 and 4. This coming fall, additional roof sections will be lifted into place above the Britten Passage, covering tracks 1 and 2 of the train platform.

Britten Passage

Amsterdam Zuid Station is getting a second passenger tunnel: the Britten Passage. This is necessary because the current station entrance, the Minerva Passage, can barely handle the number of train and metro passengers. The number of public transport users is expected to continue rising, exceeding 250,000 by 2030. The additional passage is part of the renewal of Amsterdam Zuid Station.
