Topping out of timber residential building HAUT

Date
1 March 2021

The wooden frame of the hybrid-timber residential building HAUT in Amsterdam has reached its peak. After two years of designing and two years of construction, the flag was raised on a height of 73 meters. A sustainable dream has turned into a timber truth.

Tallest wooden building in the Netherlands
With 21 storeys (73 meters), constructed with Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) floors and walls, HAUT is the highest wood-hybrid building in the Netherlands. It has become an inspiring example for architects, developers and contractors. The shell is there and the coming months the façade of staggered balconies and 52 luxury apartments within will be completed. In the fourth quarter of 2021 the first residents will move in.

Further timber projects
HAUT is a 2016 initiative by Lingotto, designed by Team V Architecture and Arup and built by JPvanEesteren. Since the project inception, the parties involved (and many others) have developed new initiatives in the field of wood construction. Team V and Arup are designing the largest wood-hybrid office in the Netherlands for DPG Media in Amsterdam. Lingotto has started the realization of Houtwerk, an office building in CLT in Utrecht and JPvanEesteren is also involved in various new initiatives in wood.

Sharing knowledge
To encourage more parties to look at timber as a sustainable and reliable building material, the makers of HAUT contributed to the article “Building a future in wood”, published by Centrum Hout.
