For the 14th Annual A+Awards, more than 600 projects and firms across 124 categories were selected by Architizer’s international jury of over 250 members from thousands of submissions worldwide. In each category, one Popular Choice Winner will be awarded through public voting. The Affordable Housing category recognises outstanding architecture for projects including social housing, public housing, government housing, low-income housing and student housing.

The August is one of five social housing blocks within the new residential district Overhoeks in Amsterdam-Noord. The project addresses the challenge of creating affordable housing with a strong architectural identity within a context largely defined by high-end residential developments. Central themes in the design are coming home, feeling at home and creating soft, welcoming living environments.
