In May 2016 a definite building permit has been issued for the renovation of the Main Building of the Eindhoven University of Technology.
The demolition, including the removal of asbestos, has been in full swing since June 2015 (see pictures here). The main building will be stripped completely, maintaining only the concrete structure and the steel framework of the facade. By applying a new super-insulating glass curtain wall and a Smart Light Concept the building will be highly energy efficient.
The Main Building, which after the renovation will be named ‘Atlas’, will open again at the beginning of the academic year of 2018/2019.
