The design of the New University Building (NU.VU) on the VU Campus in Amsterdam has achieved a BREEAM-NL Excellent design certificate on November 17, 2014. The project scored 100% in the categories Waste and Management.
The VU University has high ambitions in the field of sustainability, implementing their vision on ‘people, planet and prosperity during the Campus developments. The design of the New University Building emphasizes on saving energy and creating a sustainable, healthy and future-proof building.
Sustainable measures include the use of sustainable building materials, natural energy sources (WKO), energy efficient light sources, energy-efficient devices such as lifts, escalators, light fittings and water-saving sanitary facilities. A flora and fauna roof gives space back to plants and animals from the area, therefore enriching nature.
