A glimpse of the future: architectural tours of Zuidasdok

Date
29 July 2022

During the summer, the architects of Zuidasdok gave several guided tours around the project site. The first was on National Construction Day (Dag van de Bouw), on 18 June 2022. Team V colleagues Frank Bouwman, Joeri Apontoweil, Mathijs Witbraad, Anja Blechen and Jeroen van Schooten were present to tell interested visitors all about the design of public transport hub Amsterdam Zuid.

After the success of these first tours, the architects were asked to do a second round of tours during the summer holidays. The project organisation opened Zuidas Summer Shack on the Gustav Mahlerplein, right next to the station, as part of an information campaign to inform travelers and local residents about the work around Amsterdam Zuid station. On Thursday 28 July, Reinald Top, partner-architect of ZJA, and Jeroen van Schooten took visitors on a ‘journey to the future’, explaining their design of the renewed and extended Amsterdam Zuid Station, the widening and tunneling of the A10 highway and the surrounding urban landscape.

On Tuesday 2 August is the next (and for now the last) opportunity to tour Zuidasdok. Register on the Summer Shack website.
