Start construction for high rise towers Clubhouse Boompjes in Rotterdam

The two residential towers of 70 and 100 meters in height along the River Maas in Rotterdam have a a new name: Clubhouse Boompjes.

Clubhouse Boompjes offers new forms of living and an innovative shared mobility concept. Some of the apartments are designed as “friends’ homes,” which can be shared by two or three friends. These apartments contain two or three bedrooms of equal quality with private bathrooms, and a shared living room and kitchen. All residents can make use of a shared electric car and bike park. There will be a central lobby for the inhabitants and shops and restaurants at the corners of the lively plinth. Clubhouse Boompjes is therefore an example of the future of urban living.

The demolition of the old building at the Boompjes 60-68 site was recently completed, which means that the construction of the Clubhouse Boompjes project can now begin. The initial proposal for the site was one elongated building featuring a single vertical accent. From the seventh floor upward, the building was almost twice as deep, thereby preventing a lot of daylight from reaching the floors below. Instead of this design, the volume has been split into two towers. One powerful argument in favor of this change is that more corner apartments could be created, and thus more residential quality. Moreover, allowing the towers to increase in depth and incrementally decrease in width results in a more elegant and lighter composition. Located between the towers are rooftop gardens, the largest of which are for communal use. The detailing of the façades, faced in two shades of champagne-colored aluminum, emphasizes the stacking of the volumes.

Clubhouse Boompjes make up one of nine recent high-rise projects that are transforming this area into a varied and densely developed city district. The completion of the project is planned for 2024.
