Mediavaert nominated Office of the Year by Architectenweb

Mediavaert, the new headquarters for DPG Media Nederland, has been nominated for the Office Building of the Year Award by Architectenweb.
The jury – Paul Stavert (Powerhouse Company), Laura Favata (DE UNIE ARCHITECTEN), Ellen Schild (Studio Groen+Schild), Joost Roefs (De Twee Snoeken), Jörn-Ole Stellmann (Wiegerinck) and Deborah Lambert (Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners) – assessed: ‘social relevance’, ‘craftsmanship’ and ‘innovation’.
About Mediavaert they wrote: “The jury finds Mediavaert expertly executed. While you can have reservations about the idea of such a large office building, it is a fact that there is a great need in Amsterdam for buildings of this size with this degree of sustainability. Sustainability is not often approached in this type of projects as integrally as was done in this office building, the jury believes, without the architects going overboard with sustainable applications. Mediavaert shows a good balance. The shell is cleverly constructed. The rounded shapes and the use of colour create a light and soft appearance, both in the interior and the exterior. The building and landscape form a flowing whole. The jury highly appreciates the abundance of greenery in the project. The project also has a beautiful materiality with, for example, the use of wood and ceramics.”
