Team CS becomes Architect of the Year

Date
20 December 2014

Team CS has won the Architect of the Year Prize 2014. This was announced on Friday 19 December during a ceremony at the Mosa Architectural Centre in Amsterdam. Although their project Rotterdam Central Station has already won a variety of architecture awards, this is the first time the designers receive a price as Team CS.

Team CS is a collaboration between Benthem Crouwel Architects, Meyer en van Schooten Architecten en West 8. The architect firm is founded in 2004 for the occasion of the European tender of Rotterdam Central Station.

“That sure was a successful strategic move, because nobody could ignore this combination: it was a super formation, the Traveling Wilburys of Dutch Architecture”, said jury chairman Bernard Colenbrander during the award ceremony. “They were invited to make a plan and won the competition.”

“Team CS became an independent architect firm for one single though ambitious project, consisting of designing partners Jan Benthem, Jeroen van Schooten and Adriaan Geuze and with supporting staff from the three companies, who were under the daily supervision of Marcel Blom.”

The Architect of the Year Award has been organized for the eighth time by Architectenwerk. The prize aims to bring the professionalism and innovative power of Dutch architecture firms to the attention of clients, press and public.
