Opening Station Lansingerland-Zoetermeer

Date
14 May 2019

Friday 17th of May and Saturday 18th of May is the opening
weekend of the new Station Lansingerland-Zoetermeer. It is a new transport
interchange east of Zoetermeer, with a railway, light rail and bus station. The
main concept of the station is the design of an elevated green urban space, a
park-like avenue above the train tracks and the A12 highway: a pedestrian and
cycle bridge crossing the railway and the A12 highway. This bridge also acts as
a traverse for the train station and the new light rail station.

It is not
unusual in the area of The Hague that the local tram runs through a leafy
avenue, with its tracks in grass. Therefore, the design asked for many trees
and shrubs to be placed on the deck, and the fences have been carried out in an
characteristic branch pattern. The fencing is made of glass fiber reinforced
concrete and has been ingeniously developed for this project.

The waiting
areas are spacious, with a lot of daylight and many sight lines towards nature.
The clear logistics and views ensure that the traveler naturally continues
his/her destination. The wooden ceiling with arranged LED lighting give the
waiting rooms a warm appearance. Generous ascents, lifts and a ramp connect the
avenue with its surroundings and the different levels in a flexible manner.

It is a vibrant green environment with a good connection to
the various developments in the future.

On Saturday 18th of May, Jeroen van Schooten will give tours, speaking about the architecture of the station. To participate, you can register here: https://2k0qzm1.momice.events/
