Grand renovation

In a modern library is a lot more to do than just borrowing books. It is a place where you can discover, relax, study and work. In order to be able to facilitate these activities in the future, for everyone, the Central Library is being renovated.

The current Central Library opened in 1983. After almost 40 years of intensive use it is in urgent need of renovation. The building is technically dated and no longer fits the function of a modern library, which should be a central place in the city for Rotterdam residents to come together. That is why the building is being renovated and made more sustainable. Also the outdoor space and the connection to the city center will be improved.
