After completing the ROC Architecture program, Bart-Jan graduated in 2005 from Hogeschool Utrecht, specializing in structural engineering. A successful internship during his studies led to a part-time job at Architectenbureau Koen van Velsen, which he combined with a Master Building Technology & Architecture at the Technical University of Eindhoven. In 2010 he started working full time at the Van Velsen office, mainly on the project Breda Train Station.
Early 2015 Bart-Jan started at Team V as technical designer. As project leader he is responsible for the technical design and construction supervision of HAUT and DPG Media. Before that he supervised the realization of the Gelderland House of Province and worked on the technical design of several service buildings at Zuidasdok. Because of his combined interest in architecture and building technology, Bart-Jan is capable of working out design ideas with great technical precision. Therefore, he is often involved in architecture competitions and concept designs, including those of Laplace en Gemini.
