Contractor ZÜBLIN will start in May 2017 with the construction of Congress Hotel and Residential Tower Overhoeks. That was announced by developer IES Immobilien and investor INVESTER United Benefits on April 13th. The project, designed by Team V Architecture, comprises two high towers with a hotel and housing respectively. Various bars and restaurants, a convention center, a wellness spa and a grand roof garden make the complex a lively meeting place for both visitors and residents of Amsterdam. The expected completion is in 2020.
The project includes a 110-metre high, four-star hotel tower run by the German Maritim Hotelgesellschaft. It offers 579 rooms and a conference center with the capacity to host 4,000 people. The tower will be the third highest in Amsterdam and the second largest convention venue in the city.
The residential tower is 101-metre high and accommodates over 230 high quality apartments covering a total floor area of 24,000 m2. The residential tower is positioned in the top market segment, combining modern architecture with flexible floor plan designs in five different apartment sizes, from penthouses to single-bed apartments. Each apartment features a private loggia or balcony and all residents have access to the hotel spa and wellness area.
The residential tower is expressive, conspicuous and inviting and is characterized by striking horizontal parapets of light natural stone. Subtle variations in outer spaces, floor openings and the configuration of the facade provide a wide variety of housing types. In contrast, the hotel tower has a clean and minimalistic shape, with strong vertical lines, lots of glass and finished with robust natural stone. The tower is highly refined in detail, bold and generous, without drawing too much attention. A transparent and publicly accessible base connects the two towers. It features a large and lush roofgarden.
